PRINCE HILL — Acting President Gavin Norberg of the Commonwealth of Natowa has signed Executive Order No. 2026-10-23-01, officially imposing targeted diplomatic and entry sanctions against HM Earl Uoylt of Central Mercia following his public endorsement of the Natowan Monarchist Movement (NMM).
The decision comes amid escalating diplomatic tensions surrounding the Natowan Civil War, with the Commonwealth of New Ridge also formally announcing sanctions against Central Mercia.
Diplomatic Dispute
The controversy began after Earl Uoylt publicly endorsed the Natowan Monarchist Movement, contradicting a statement issued two days earlier by Central Mercia's Council of State pledging support for Natowa's constitutional government.
The Earl additionally characterized the Commonwealth of New Ridge, a diplomatic ally of Natowa, as an enemy.
These conflicting positions have raised questions about Central Mercia's political unity, with speculation emerging over the possibility of an internal political crisis.
Natowa Issues Executive Order
On October 23, Acting President Gavin Norberg signed Executive Order No. 2026-10-23-01, establishing two restrictions against Earl Uoylt:
- Diplomatic sanctions: Suspension of official diplomatic engagement, negotiations, and cooperation with Earl Uoylt.
- Entry sanctions: Prohibition of entry into Natowan-controlled territory and attendance at official government events without presidential authorization, subject to applicable law.
The sanctions took effect immediately upon signing and will remain in force indefinitely unless modified or revoked.
The executive order applies exclusively to Earl Uoylt and does not extend to the Central Mercian government or its general population.
New Ridge Formally Sanctions Central Mercia
Shortly following the developments, the Commonwealth of New Ridge announced sanctions against Central Mercia itself.
In an official statement, New Ridge's leadership declared:
"The 'Micronation' of Central Mercia, under my authortity, is hereby sanctioned, due to supporting the terroristic and extremely horrible Natowan Monarchist Movement."
The statement also referenced the beginning of the Natowan Civil War on October 20, 2026, and reaffirmed New Ridge's support for Acting President Gavin Norberg's administration.
The announcement concluded with a declaration of solidarity:
"Long live New Ridge!
And long live the New Ridge-Natowan alliance!"
Unlike Natowa's individually targeted sanctions, New Ridge's measures apply to Central Mercia as a whole.
Concerns Over International Spillover
The dispute has raised concerns that the Natowan Civil War could contribute to political instability in other micronations.
Conflicting political positions within Central Mercia have prompted speculation about a possible internal conflict, although no separate civil war has been confirmed.
With both Natowa and New Ridge now imposing sanctions, the controversy represents a growing international diplomatic dispute connected to the Natowan Civil War.
This is a developing story.
