Verified as Natowa Government
Acting President Gavin Norberg is facing mounting political pressure after his approval rating reportedly fell from 98% to just 34% following the passage of the controversial Diplomatic Protection Act.
The legislation, intended to regulate diplomatic relations and restrict engagement with certain foreign micronations, has sparked significant backlash among Natowan citizens.
The remaining 34% of the population supporting Norberg reportedly consists of members of his Social Democratic Party of Natowa (SDPN), raising concerns about his ability to attract support beyond his political base.
Opposition Launches Attack Campaign
Republican presidential candidate Victor Gibson has seized upon the controversy, releasing a political advertisement directly criticizing Norberg's diplomatic policies.
"You don't want a president like Gavin Norberg. He limits our communication to other nations," the advertisement states.
The advertisement also features an image of Norberg accompanied by the words "DON'T BE THIS GUY" in red lettering.
Election Just 27 Days Away
The controversy comes less than four weeks before Natowa's November 3 presidential election, in which Norberg and Gibson are competing to become the Commonwealth's first elected president.
Previously enjoying overwhelming public approval, Norberg now faces one of the most significant political challenges of his acting presidency.
It remains unclear whether the administration will seek to amend or repeal the legislation in response to public criticism.
With the election approaching, the controversy could become a defining issue of the 2026 presidential campaign.
This is a developing story.
